AUTOFEEDER
Continental Pipe and Tube Cut-Off
Machines has introduced the PDS series
programmable autofeeder. The system
provides consistent cuts and is simple to
set up and program, according to the manufacturer the company says..
The autofeeder, which frees the operator
for other tasks, can be retrofitted to one of
the company’s existing cutoff machines or
can be supplied as a complete feeder.

T & H Lemont has introduced AutoSet, a
mill setup automation system for retrofit
of any existing mill or incorporation on
new mill systems. The system uses patented absolute encoder technology to achieve
accurate, repeatable setups.
A color touchscreen interface is used
to select mill setup from a menu of product specifications based on previously
stored setups. The operator enters an ID
specific to the pipe or tube size. The
screen shows nominal rim gaps in addition to actual rim gaps as entered from
previous production of that tubing size.
The stands automatically adjust to
those locations at the touch of the screen.
Each stand is represented on the touchscreen. If minor adjustments are
required, the operator can make these
adjustments from the touchscreen in
0.001-in. increments. Once the best
setup is achieved, the data can be stored
as the new product specification. The
system can store more than 100 unique
mill setups.
The absolute encoders retain position
information with power off and never
require a zero-out procedure. For example, if an adjustment is made manually
while the system is shut down, the system
will recognize the new position at
power on.
In place of servomotor drives, the system features standard AC vector drives
to replace manual adjustment of the driven stands.
